Polyvinyl chloride, (IUPAC Polychloroethene) commonly abbreviated PVC, is a widely used thermoplastic polymer. In terms of revenue generated, it is one of the most valuable products of the chemical industry. The use of modern impact modifiers offers great stability to the PVC leaving it remarkably resistant to Biodegradation, both aerobically and anaerobically. Because of the PVC’s resilience the plastic has a negative environmental impact on landfills, as well as our physical surroundings. PVC remains structually intact for a very long time.
For several years BIOPVC, INC. have been researching and testing an environmentally friendly solution for the rigid PVC market. The result is a 99% PVC product that biodegrades in nine months to five years in soil, water, compost or wherever in continual contact with microorganisms. The bioremediation works in an aerobic or anaerobic environment. BIOPVC, INC. has a patent pending on the BIOPVC™ product. |
